Q: Anyone have to do NSTs before?

I'm 29 weeks and I start doing NSTs (fetal non-stress test) tomorrow and was told I'd be having them done twice a week for the rest of my pregnancy. I have high blood pressure (well-controlled with medication) which is the reason for having them done. From what I understand they aren't a big deal or anything. I just wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has done them in the past or has to do them now. I'm just curious what to expect? Thanks:-)

Thank you both. The first time didn't go very smoothly. My stubborn little monkey really doesn't like when she gets "pushed" on so she kept dodging the monitor. Her heartrate was steady but didn't increase with activity as high as they wanted it to (they gave me juice, etc...no luck), so they ended up doing a biophysical profile ultrasound to check her oxygen levels. She was completely fine but I was frustrated. I ended up being there for 3 hours. Hopefully my next NST will be much smoother. It's scheduled for Monday. I guess it's just prepping me for the patience of motherhood:-) LOL

I had the NST done with my first. Its pretty basic. You lay on a hospital bed with a movement detector thing huggind your belly bump. You basically sit there, they just wanna track the babies movements. They may give you a popcicle to make the baby wiggle it up in there lol. No sweat though ;). Good luck!
