Q: what could the doctor need to talk to me about?

i had a doctors appointment a while ago who decided my positive wasnt dark enough and asked for a second urine sample in 5 days which i provided, it was sent to a lab and i recieved a call today asking me to go in to discuss the results with my doctor in TWO WEEKS! i was told not to worry so it cant be anything like miscarriage or diabetes, i think an appointment would be sooner for a uti and theres no chance of a sti or std. i havent had a check for measurements but i look around 5 months plus but cant be much further than the 7+5 weeks i have estimated? can they test hcg levels in urine? if so is it possible the levels are higher? indicating multiples or further in pregnancy than i think? please let me know what you think especially if you have been in a similar situation! i would really appreciate your thoughts or comments because i am actually sending myself mental!

I'm in the uk and my doctors doesn't do a prenatal check, I wont see the doctor again unless I have bleeding, more spotting, cramping etc, my doctors take a back seat because they do midwife based care and I shouldnt see anyone until my bloods are done at 10-12 weeks. My doctors doesn't do hcg level checks or anything like that routinely. They specified that it was about my urine sample so I'm lost and will just worry if I can't get a sooner appointment thanks for the answers ladies. I saw my midwife and she doesn't know what it's for either

My doctor didn't check me for a positive but when i rang up for an appointment to say "hi I'm pregnant" they arranged to see me about 2 weeks later for a chat and check up. I think its just to ensure that its not a chemical pregnancy. I wouldn't worry :)

i don't know and haven't had this happen either. however, i'd be stressed out too with the not knowing for 2 whole weeks. i'd probably call and ask them what the results were - waiting 2 weeks seems a little bit lengthy to me for such a vague answer as "it's nothing bad, don't worry". Good Luck and i hope you get an answer soon!

I think they are just booking your first prenatal check. they can test for positive, but they need a blood test to detect exact hcg levels. the only thing i can think of (besides a regular prenatal appointment) would be higher protein in your urine, which may suggest an infection but like you said, they would see you sooner. dont stress out about it, i would worry more if they told you to come in the next day then in 2 weeks :) good luck

Hi,
Sorry haven't had this situation just thought I'd reply though :) Are you in the UK or the states? They test hcg levels in the states and if they want to see you in 2 weeks I can only presume that it is a chance to discuss your prenatal care etc and that the 2nd sample came back darker. They don't tend to rush these things a lot of the time, and if in the Uk I wold say the same. Sorry I can't be much help but I really wouldn't panic. Just maybe take another test next week and check every-thing's okay to give yourself peace of mind. Congrats :)
