It really depends on how much you are willing to spend. The more you spend, the less difficult the diapers are the manage. I used pocket diapers last time and found them to be a nice medium option. All-in-One diapers (AIOs) can be expensive and don't fit very long, so you have to constantly re-buy. Prefolds and covers are the cheapest option, but it requires you knowing how to fold a diaper correctly.
The pocket diapers we used were Smartipants (https://www.smartipants.com/) and I really enjoyed them. They run about $15 for a diaper, but if you buy in larger amounts, the cost is less. I have about 30 diapers total (not all Smartipants, those are just my favorite) and about two dozen prefolds with maybe four or five covers. You can figure that a baby will go through about 12 diapers a day and then figure out how often you want to do laundry (every 2 days - get 24-30, every 3 days - get 36-40 and so on). I wouldn't commit to a brand or style until you've tried some out.
