Q: How much bleeding is normal at 3 weeks pregnant?

Today I am 13DPO. I got my first positive test at 12DPO with 2MU. That afternoon I restested and got a NEG. I had creamy brownish-red discharge in the early evening which eventually subsided.

I retested with FMU this am & received a reassuring positive! I started spotting deep red blood around 9am with cramping. I had enough to need to change two panty liners (approx 1-2tsp.) by noon. I have since gone to the rest room and only see a light spotting when wiping. I have a lsight headache & lower pain ache & no appetite.

I have called my OB and they advised me to wait till 5 weeks for my regular scheduled HCG count appt. They are telling me this is common and to not let it worry me unless I notice a loss of tissue or large amounts of bright red blood.

Any advice would be nice. This is my first pregnancy and I am very nervous and could use some reassuring.

Thanks Ladies!!!

So today I am 14DPO & I am still spotting. It is a rich red in color but dries pretty quickly and it really dark. I haven't actually had to change my pad beacuse of the amount of blood, just basically for my own freshness. AF is due tomorrow so hopefully this is a taste of the last one I'll have for a little bit!

I went by my OB's office today during lunch and had some blood drawn. They are going to call me tomorrow with the results. If my HCG levels are above 10mIU/ml, then I'll be retested again on Sat to see how we are coming along. If I'm below...well you know. We wll try again when Honey comes home from sea.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying that everything will be alright. It's hard to get advice from people when we havn't told our friends and family yet. I wanted to wait till we knew for sure everything was going to be okay.

Thank you so much for all your input!

It could be residuals of implantation bleeding, although it sounds like a lot to me. I started spotting around 7 weeks and went to the ER and found a small subchorionic hemorrhage (basically a bloodclot between the uterine lining and gestational sac), but the baby was fine. I went to my doctor a week later after being on bedrest and the SCH was gone. I tried to get into the doctor before then, but unfortunately, my doctor's office passed my phonecalls around like a hot potato. When they think it's likely that you'll miscarry, they "put you off" and want you to wait until your next scheduled appointment to be seen, because there's "nothing they can do" if you are indeed miscarrying. I know that sounds terrible, but it's true. Good luck, I'll be checking your profile to see how you're doing. Also, try not to google it, it'll just make you worry more and scare you!
