Q: How do I talk to hubbs about not wanting to name our son after him with out him getting mad?

Hubby is Otto Emmanuel and Father in Law is Otto Roberto. Hubbs wants lil boy to be named Otto Emmanuel Jr....I want to help pick a name and if we name him after hubbs...I get to be no part at all. I really love my hubbs but really really wanna help pick a name. He was all for it till his mother mentioned having a jr. Im sorry lady if you wanted a Jr you could have named one of your two boys after their father! How can I talk to hubbs and suggest baby names with out him getting mad?

Yup a tough one but the bottom line is the baby is yours and your husband's so there has to be compromise. We had a similar dilema - my partner wanted to name a male baby after his dad but I wasn't a big fan of the name.

We decided on a first name together and his dad's name will be the middle name - we know now we are having a wee boy.

We are both really happy with the choice :-)

Good luck x

We had names picked out and everything that included DH's name. We had Ethan Emmanuel and Issac Emmanuel but I have no idea what happened.

My cousin just went through this same issue. Her husbands father is Lenard Charles II, her husband is Lenard Charles III and everyone really wanted her son to be Lenard Charles IV. It's bad enough that at "home", her mother-in-law says, "Hey Len" and 3 people turn around, but now they wanted a 4th. My cousin went back and forth about it. She even asked if she DID concede and name him Lenard Charles, if they could call him "Charlie". Her husband, however said that regardless, he would always call him Lenard.

In the end after many months of thought on it, they both decided together to name their son Lenard Charles IV but introduce him to EVERYONE as Charlie so that everyone would be happy. They are both in love with the name now because they were both able to add to it.

This may not work in your circumstance but they were able to work it out after much discussion.

I think you need to be honest, and tell him you really want to be part of naming your baby! Maybe you can compromise... Use one of his names, and then you can both choose the other. I think it's really important to pick a name that feels right for both of you!

Good luck!

Oh dear!
Thats tough. Maybe point out that it could get confusing when your yelling at Otto Jr to get off the table, or yelling at hubby for leaving his shoes in the hall! LOL
