I'm a car seat tech. Neither a snowsuit, jacket, or a car seat bag (Like the BundleMe) are safe at all - they put way too much padding between the child and the harness. In a crash, all that padding compresses, and there's a decent amount of space left between your child and the harness. Your child would then slam into the harness at approx 60mph, instead of being held snugly against the seat like they're meant to.
Plus - most car seat bags make the straps twist and turn weirdly to get through their holes. The ONLY things you should ever put on a car seat are things that CAME WITH the seat.
Some great ways to keep your child warm in the car:
Pack blankets around them AFTER the harness is fastened.
Get one of those "shower cap" style covers - those are totally safe.
Put a jacket on the child backwards, over top of the harness.
I'm sure you can come up with many more ways to keep your child safe AND warm without risking their life by altering the way the seat works!

my lil guy was always so hot n trying to fit him in a seat with a suit was never good, so i did th e seat cover warm clothes and 2 blankets cuz its easier to take that off once in a car then that suit , but the suits are so cute with the lil ears :)

With my daughter we used the car seat cover warm clothes, hat, and blanket. If it was really cold out side we did put her in her snow suit. Itll probably be like that this time around too.

I am due at the end of November, and live in Minnesota. I have a car seat cover bag, and my mom got me some sort of sleep sack type thing that has sleeves and then a hole for the middle (crotch) strap for a car seat. Plus I plan on keeping a warm blanket with as well. I think a mix between the cover, sleep sack and blanket will be plenty. This is my first baby so I'm not sure, but have lots of experience with kids (although significantly less with new horns, which scares me a little) and from what I've delt with and seen that is more than enough. I also plan to have warm socks/shoes, mittens and a hat on baby when needed.
