Q: Fetal Doppler

I have a fetal doppler that I used with my son, but didn't get it until after 10 weeks. I'm currently 7 weeks and some change pregnant and decided to see if I could find the heart beat. Well I found "a" heart beat about two inches down and to the left of my belly button. The rate was going between 100-130. Was this my heart beat.. or the baby? Just figured since I am still pretty early in, that the heart beat would be found a little bit lower.... HELP.. THANKS!

My monitor did not pick up until 12 weeks and it was very low, almost on my pubic bone. The doc's doppler picked up earlier, but the one we got is not as advanced. I would just keep checking. Hold your wrist when checking for the baby's heart rate, if what you hear matches the pulse you feel on your wrist, then it is your heart beat. If it is faster or not at all at the same pace, then it is your baby's.

I agree with your assumption, but I would measure your heart rate and compare the 2. If your heart rate is 80, and the one on the doppler says 130...then it is the baby's.
