Q: Nipple piercings and breastfeeding??

I'm wondering if anyone has had their nipples pierced prior to breastfeeding and been successful or had complications due to this?

I've had mine out for a couple of years and am now worried about any scar tissue. I had them both pierced and the left one both vertically and horizontally.

Any experiences are much appreciated! Thank you

I don't have any experience in this but if there's a La Leche League International group in your area chances are very good that someone in the group will have had that experience! Even if that's not the case, the leaders are very helpful and can point you in the direction of some resources that should be helpful.

My understanding is that it usually does work to breastfeed with nipple piercings, but an expert would be more likely to know specifics. :)

HTH!
