Q: Black spot in head of baby

I just had my 12 week ultrasound. Baby was uncooperative so I have to go back in a week so the proper measurement can hopefully be taken.
Baby was kicking and fine. When I got home and a good look at the picture I noticed the front part of the brain is like a black hole. Is this normal? I really hope there is nothing wrong with the baby. This black spot really has me freaked out.

We had one at 11wks 4 days and it looks kinda alienish haha with some black spots and ultrasund tech told us to remember it looks through to the skeleton not their skin so that was normal, If something was off they would have said something else to you I'm sure but as always call your ob and talk to them about it to calm your nerves=)

Looks pretty much the same as mine, yup. But still, like jkg said, call your doc. Always helps to have professional reassurance. :)

I agree, if they didn't say anything was wrong then there's probably nothing to worry about. If it's still that way at 20 weeks or later it may be of concern. I would definitely call your doctor, at least to calm your fears and get some answers.

I posted the pic on my page. Does it look normal to you?

You can take a look at my ultrasounds- I had one at 12w 6d, and it looks pretty much the exact same way you're describing. I think it's just normal. Especially if the doc or the tech didn't mention anything about it- usually they'll tell you or want extra tests on that specific part if there's something wrong. In most of my ultrasounds, the black spot on the front of the skull was actually measured, and I think is just part of the brain. But if you're concerned, just call your tech or your doc and ask what it is. ^_^
