Q: What do you do to help with nausea and feeling overly tired?

I am so nauseated and tired every day all day long! Anyone else? Have you done anything that helps with feeling tired and queasy? I am taking zofran and it keeps me from throwing up, but not from feeling sick. Yesterday I felt more tired that I have ever been in my life!

Hi. I am 10w2d and have been sick since 4w. I have been in/out of the ER (admitted) for IV fluids. I have taken zofran, reglan, 2 different kind of supp. Nothing has helped. I have gotten a script for a "prima bella" bracelet/watch the sends signals to my brain when I become nausea. I wear it 24/7, seems to help some. My mouth is constantly watering, with this funky taste in y mouth. Its really gross. I'm to the point now where, I have stopped all my meds because I feel they haven't been working anyways. I live off of: crackers, peppermint salt water taffys, black olives, and crushed ice. I chew on the ice 24/7 when I'm awake :) helps out sooooo much.

Good luck!

i think i lived on saltine crackers and ginger ale for most of my first tri. My ob said maybe adding some protein (like peanut butter) to the crackers will help because it helps keep your blood glucose level stable for a longer period than just plain crackers. It helped me a bit. I still do feel sick though, just a bit more tolerable...

I've been drinking peppermint tea, thats been helpful. There are decaf herbal and regular caffeinated versions if you want to try that for nausea relief and energy ( I know some people are against caffeine so whatever your preference). I was also planning to pick up some peppermints to suck on at work. I have also been wearing these things called Sea-Bands. They are natural wrist band type things that hit an acupressure point in your wrist to relief nausea from various causes including pregnancy. They were only $8 at Target in the medicine section. I wear long sleeves to work, so its nice that I can keep it secret and no one is asking me what they're for since I haven't told anyone yet. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Something that helped me with the nausea was to suck on a lemon. I know its really sour, but just a quarter of a lemon helped. If you dont want to suck on a lemon try a piece of lemon candy that works too. As for being tired, I actually took a short walk when I would get home from work and that would help me with having energy until I went to bed. I am just about to start my 2nd trimester and those 2 things helped me alot.

Nothing really helped me, except sleeping. Obviously you can't sleep during the day if you're a worker like me though!

It was hugely draining - I tried everything and found that not much helped... I just had to battle through it. I spent much of the first trimester sat at my desk, staring at my computer and pretending to work... I simply couldn't think.

Plenty of water helped!

And early nights... I was asleep before my 6 year old last night and slept straight through (If you exclude the 4 times i got up to go to the toilet) ;-)

Good luck!

Definitely make sure you are eating small meals/snacks throughout the day. Crackers and cheese were my best friend for a looong time. Having an empty stomach or a too-full stomach will just make it worse. As for the tiredness, if you are in a position to take a couple 20-30 min naps a day, it will help.

I know how you feel hun, I can honestly say that nothing has helped me. However things you could give a go and hope they work are: eating biscuits or crackers before you get out of bed as hunger makes you feel more sick, make sure you are getting plenty of sleep too. Ginger and peppermint are supposed to give some relief of sickness too. Im on cyclizine, but I've heard zofran is better so I probs wouldn't change the medicine you are taking. Sorry I cant help more, how far on are you? Good luck with the symptoms xxx

Hello and congrats! I'm afraid that the feeling sleepy is pretty normal and all you can really do about that is nap-- but it should let up around the end of your first trimester. (It did for me, and I have a RIDICULOUS amount of energy right now!)

As for nausea, I found that if whenever I started feeling a little sick I ate a cracker or two (something plain like saltines) and drank some water it REALLY helped. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, since eating is probably the last thing you feel like doing, but nausea is usually much worse on an empty stomach. Good luck!
