My pap smear came up abnormal at my first ob appt. I got another pap smear at 14 weeks and he did a colposcopy,! I didn't bleed at all. I think if they have a certain reason to do it , then let them but if not then there is no need :)'

I had abnormal cells show up in my pap just before I found out I was pregnant and my doc said she will not be doing any paps while I'm pregnant.

Thank you ladies so much. That is what I was thinking. My husband and I were a little concerned about doing it during pregnancy. You ladies helped me make up my mind. Thank you!!!

i had treatment for abnormal cells a year before falling pregnant so had to have regular routine tests after to ensure everything was going well. I was due one when i was 3 months pregnant but i was told not to have one during pregnancy as the results are not accurate due to the hormones. I am still waiting for it now as i've been told i still have to wait until 12 weeks after pregnancy to ensure correct results. I would refuse the test.

Where I am they wait until after pregnancy to do any pap smears. I d ask if it could wait until you have given birth.

I had one done at 16 weeks causing me to bleed quite badly. My baby is ok but emotionally it was quite distressing to through. I do not understand why doctors need to do it all during pregnancy!

For both of my pregnancies my OB's wanted to wait until 6 wks post-partum to do a PAP but I had already had PAPs recently so I never went to far past the 1 yr mark. But if you feel uncomfortable doing one just let them know and ask if you can wait until after you give birth. If they say no ask why, but either way you have every right to deny any medical services they want you to have if you don't want them. Hope this helps :)
