Let's see here: tea tree oil, mayonaise, vinegar, hair dye (my doctor has told me it is safe to dye your hair as long as you don't leave the dye on longer than 30 minutes because the dye has a hard time being absorbed in the head as long as you do it in a well ventilated room) this works better for me when I get them. Also, talk to your doctor. They'll know what to do.

Any sort of thick oily substance... margarine, mayonnaise, etc, ill suffocate and loosen them. Just patiently comb them out after waiting 45 minutes and then wash a few times with a good soap or shampoo that breaks down oils to remove the substance. It's best if you can get someone else to do the combing so they can make sure to get everything.

Vaseline suffocates them as well. We had to do that to my little cousins a few years ago - worked like a charm, but a pain to get out.

Sounds funny but margerine suffocates lice. My mom used to do it when we were little. Just put a whole tub of margerine in your hair and put a plastic bag to cover your head. Wait at least 30 mins. Then wash out and the nits should just slide out with light picking and the live lice will be dead :). Sounds funny but it works lol
