I agree that it is not necessarily the number but whether the number is doubling that is important. HCG ranges vary widely. Hopefully your doctor has you scheduled for another blood test soon.

What we did was order the clearblue digital pregnancy test with fertility monitor. It will tell you either 1-2, 2-3, or 3+ based on the concentration of hcg in your urine. It gave me piece of mind to see it increasing and receive the 3+ test. Unfortunately unless you live in the UK they don't sell them in stores. However, you can buy them on eBay very easily with pretty quick shipping. You should also have the doctor re-check hcg to make sure it's increasing. At 6 weeks they will def be able to see a gestational sac and possibly a fetal pole and heartbeat. We had an ultrasound at 5 weeks 6 days an were able to see the sac, fetal pole and heartbeat. You can see a picture of that on my page. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

I don't know that one low number is a concern. What is more useful is to redo that test in 48-72 hours and see that it has doubled. Thats my understanding anyways.
