Q: Is it terrible I don't want a huge shower?

Last year I lost my son at 20 weeks and because I was so far along I had to go through labor. I have been going through this pregnancy very well and haven't been to emotional. I think sitting at a shower and listening to people tell me "wait until you go through labor" (um yeah I have) or things like that I might get emotional. I also don't want a lot of people there that I don't know or honestly could care less if they are there or not. I don't want to hurt my mother or mother in-laws feelings. I have a long time to go but I was just thinking about it. Any suggestions?

not at all. try to explain to your mom and MIL that you'd rather it be intimate with people you love that love you. If they ask why, tell them if you're comfortable doing so. There's no shame in that! Your baby shower should be a happy experience you cherish. Good luck, hope it goes well!

if they can't understand how you are feeling then they shouldn't be throwing your shower anyway. let them know

Oh my goodness, ANYBODY, especially your mother in law should understand that! Just tell them!

awh :( Im so sorry I had no idea that you had lost your baby previously. I completely understand why you would feel this way and a lot of stuff makes more sense now. Prayers to you and the baby this time around. I would just explain you dont want a huge baby shower, because of what happened before... it's completely understandable.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I'm going to go the route of explaining that I want something small and with people I know well and want to be there. I like that idea. If they don't understand then they can have a grandmas shower.
