Q: All in a name...?

We have started the name search and I am stumped..

I have the following names in the family that we can work with as a starting point:
Monique (me)
Anton (Dad)
Joey and Frank (grandma and grandad 1)
Danie (Grandad 2)

So far I have not encountered any names I like.. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm with the previous poster. It may take some digging to find a name that you love, be sure to look at family member's first, last, maiden, and middle names. My sister even combined two names (Elijah and Stephanie) to come up with their daughter's name (Ellis).

I hear ya! To me, after we found out we were having a girl, finding a good FAMILY name was super important. Arguably, one day she may get married and drop her maiden name. Both of my boys have good family names from their great great grandarents and so it was always important to me but more so now with a girl. I looked WAAAAY back and only found a bunch of Mavis and Iolas. It wasn't going to be easy. Finally, I found my 94 year old grandmothers MAIDEN name. Her last name! It fits us to a tee! Not too common, not too weird...strong and yet feminine. Could fit a business exec or an athlete. Just right for us. Soooo, look deep in your family lineage and don't exclude last names...that's my advice. Luckily my husband is aware that all these kids are getting his last name so he thinks it's good for them to have MY family represented in their first names! YAY! Kennedy Anne Page will be with us in 11 days or sooner!!! :D G'luck!

I have heard that sometimes it takes having the baby in your arms to decide a name. Naming should be a fun process, so if you can't come up with one, don't stress. It just may take the first time you hold the baby and the name will just come to you.

are you set on using family names? or are you open to just coming up with a name that sounds nice, whether it's a family name or not?
