Q: A little dot at 5 weeks 4 days?

Hello,

I had my 1st ultrasound at 5 weeks 4 days. All I saw was a dot in the sac, I was excited but is this normal? The doctor showed me the dot and printed out a pic for me. She said that the next time I go in at exactly 7 weeks, we should see the heartbeat on the monitor. What are your experiences at around 5.5 weeks, is it normal that all I saw was a dot?

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks and 3 days (today!) and we only saw the sac as well, no embryo or yolk visible yet. They said this is normal because it is still very early in the pregnancy. I was expecting to see at least a tiny embryo, but I will have to wait a couple of weeks for that.

Good luck in your next ultrasound!

Paula

Yes that's perfectly normally to only see the sac so early on. My first scan was only the sac, your next scan may change your due date because they will be able to measure your bubz.
