Q: Feeling seriously depressed about my body!!!

I'm 34 weeks and I'm getting loads of stretch marks. I knew I'd get them but now that I have I really can't stand seeing myself into the mirror.
I want to give birth now, just to stop the stretching, I know how bad that sounds and that's why I think I need help.
Also I've put 2 stone on and everyone keeps saying I'm huge which isn't helping.

Is there any self help stuff I can do before going to see midwife because I'm scared she's going to judge me and my parenting afterwards. :(

And just to take away the feeling of my skin stretching this time, I use a cocoa butter oil. Super moisturizing and helps with stretch marks.

Hun, I was 17 when I got pregnant with my son and super petite. Only 95 pounds at 15 weeks and once I started gaining weight (50 pounds), I was covered in them. I felt like crap for a long time until just this year when I realized that I got these by growing a life inside me. Not everybody can say that they have done that. I'll never get back the body that I had, but I now wear my stretch marks with pride and it's been 4 years in March. I was told that I'm a tiger who has earned her stripes and I love it. I also found this lovely picture about a woman who was covered and she felt that she got each one for each breathe her child took inside her. If you're feeling as depressed as you are, maybe you should talk to someone about it. Depression is common and especially in pregnancy with all your hormones and body changes.

When I got pregnant with my first child (who is now 16) I was only 19 years old and gained all of my weight in the last trimester. I got stretch marks galore that go from the middle of my calves, up my thighs, and all over my stomach. I still am always embarrassed of them when I go for exams due to pregnancy. I have to just keep telling myself that there is nothing I can do about them and I just have to accept them, they are a part of me. I will never be able to wear a swim suit or shorts but I can still wear cute clothes that cover up my marks. I love what hopeful329 said...we have earned our stripes and need to be proud of them for we are carrying a miracle. I couldn't have said it better myself. I am 37 weeks along and have gotten a few new stretch marks on my tummy because I am carrying really high but I am ok with it. After your baby is born they will decrease in size, they won't ever go away but over time you will get used to them :)

Before going to your midwife, do you have any family or friends you can talk to? Maybe you can find an online group of people experiencing the same issues. There are probably lots of people around you that have been through the same situation and feelings. I'm guessing that, as with most emotional issues, it will make you feel so much better knowing that you aren't alone and having someone to talk to. Luckily, you are closing in on the end of pregnancy, so you might not have too much additional stretching. If you haven't been using any oils or lotions on your skin yet, try Bio Oil. I'm only 18 weeks, but I can feel the stretching in my abdomen, and it is the only thing that takes the sting out of my skin. It is very moisturizing and makes the skin feel much better. I really hope this helps, and good luck in the next few weeks. I'm sure once you are holding your baby, you won't even be thinking about your skin.

Hello, I can tell you I have one son who will be 17, and I felt the same way, as the stretch marks raced up my belly at 8 months pregnant with him... I can tell you for the longest time I hated my stretch marks, but now I look at them a different way... I've earned my "strips" for a darn good reason!!!! I would do anything for a million more stretch marks on my tummy, but I keep miscarrying... Don't let others bring you down sweetie, you are carrying a miracle, be proud of your marks!!!!
