i've heard your not meant to sleep on your back either, i'm 29 weeks and finding that i keep rolling onto my back in my sleep, sometimes sleeping on my back helps with my back pain.

i'm 24 weeks pregnant and was told not to sleep on my back once I got into my second trimester because the uterus can put pressure on the major veins in your back and reduce blood flow and oxygen supply to the baby.

I have always been told that you shouldn't sleep on your back too because of the pressure of the uterus on the blood vessel. I will believe it... I am 19 weeks and about a week and a half ago when ever I would sleep on my back, I would wake up with little to no feeling in my hands. So I will be side sleeping from here on out... I have been using a regular pillow placed sideways in front of me to lean onto.

My doctor told me at week 19 no more back sleeping. Prefers left side but said right side was ok. He told me that bak sleeping can put pressure on the inferior vena cava and reduce blood flow in turn reducing oxygen to the baby. I've read lots online claiming same/similar. I'm just playing the better safe than sorry method and bought a prego sleep pillow. Let me tell you, SO comfy. Highly recommend it. :)

I only knew of this myself cos someone mentioned it on a forum, so I googled it and got all different answers, this will be my 4th and not once has the midwife or dr told me not to sleep on my back, so from that I gather its not a big issue cos surely they would mention it. I slept on my back all the time with my first 3 an had no issues, with this one tho I cant really cos I cant breath properly :).
