Q: Would you buy pre-loved clothes?

As we are all finding out and noticing that our new bubba needs a lot of stuff and it's so expensive especially when it comes to clothes. We don't know how big they are going to be nor how long therefore the clothes we are buying are going to last.
Would you consider buying pre-loved newborn baby clothes to contribute to the band new things you would buy just so you've got them if needs be and haven't spent too much.

Yes I have been buying preloved clothes off eBay already (I'm only 18 wks) then I buy cheap fabric iron on designes to flash them up a bit . It's fun , so many characters to choose and u can get creative. I bought Winnie the pooh ones , and transformed a few dull looking shirts n singlets into something cuter! And it's cheap !

I'm only five weeks with my second pregnancy (last ended in MC) and I'm already stocking up on NB clothes, pre-loved. I will splurge for 3-6mo clothing and onward, but considering that many newborns (like me and my brother) are only in NB for about a week or two, and since my sister-in-law is getting rid of boatloads of her old baby clothes to make room for new, I totally grazed through her stash and landed like 8 sleep n plays, 10 onesies, a sleep sack, little shirt and pant sets, christmas clothes, all uni-sex and NB or 0-3mo. A stain remover stick and a hot wash, good as new.

I love buying on Ebay. Most has hardly been worn and is more or less brand new anyway

I agree with all of yous and thanks for contributing. I live in Australia and don't think we have consignment sales @janastep73 but there's sales of bundles of clothes on gumtree for such a reasonable price I was so tempted. Money's not tight, tight but I still thought that I'd rather save a few pennys on a few items and put the extra then towards pram etc. We save money, other mums get rid of clutter and get a buck for it and surely it's environmentally friendly too. I'm going to go for it. Thanks! :)

Look for seasonal consignment sales in your area...great prices and most places are selective in what they will accept (new looking, non-stained clothing). They also sell equipment, furniture, etc! Once my son grows out of stuff I put his old clothes/toys in the consignment sales to help offset the cost of getting his bigger stuff.

I don't know how comprehensive this list is for other states, but this is a listing of the consignment sales around the US. A girl that runs a consignment sale here locally in TN keeps up with this website:

Baby clothes get worn for such a short period of time that they still look New anyway. Money is tight and id say 80% of my babies wardrobe is pre loved. The New bits were all brought in the sales too. Ebay is a great place for reasonably priced bundles.

We don't have much money but felt very strongly that we wanted to begin a family. I am now pregnant with number 2 and one of the ways we save money is with pre-loved baby cloths! (And our cloths as well) I was able to get our soon to be born little girl everything she needs clothing wise from birth-12 months (if she grows like her brother) for $50-$60 total thanks to yard sales and the cloths all look new.

Absolutely! And I have friends who've done it too! I bought a ton of used maternity clothes, and to me, baby clothes are the same, because they're generally not worn for a long period of time!
