elevated heartrate was my first really convincing symptom of pregnancy. It is normal. If you are worried enough about it, just put in a call to your OB's office and ask the nurse about it...that should put you at ease. Congrats!

I had elevated pulses in my first pregnancy, but just in the very beginning. Once the pregnancy really got going, that seemed to get back to normal. I'm 4 wks now, and I noticed my pulse racing the other day. I'll continue to watch it and pace myself...

is that your pulse rate or the baby's? and how old are you? if it were yours its possible you were over anxious which would raise your heart rate. If its the babies at 5 weeks the docs aren't always even able to get a heartbeat! either way i'm sure your fine. relax.
