Q: Jaw pain?

I am currently 33 weeks. I have been having some jaw pain. Is this cause I am pregnant? Anyone else have jaw pain also?

As you progress through pregnancy your body produces more relaxin. Especially later in pregnancy. During pregnancy, the hormone relaxin is present in 10 times its normal concentration in the female body. Relaxin is good in the sense that its function - as you might guess from the name - is to relax the joints in the pelvis so the baby has room to pass through the birth canal. Unfortunately, relaxin also causes abnormal motion in many other joints of the body, causing inflammation and pain. This includes your jaw!

I see a physiotherapist because I have TMJ (jaw joint issues) this may help you as well. I specifically see a head, neck and jaw physio.

Good luck!
