Q: Losing weight too fast safe?--- Postpartum

I'm 1 week postpartum, I started tracking my weight 4 days PP. I noticed I'm losing about 5lb every 2 days. Was 190lb from 3 days PP and now 180lb. I'm exclusively pumping. I'm on no diet, not started any exercise yet. I'm eating like I do normally. Is losing this much weight normal? I heard I'm supposed to be losing a pound a week...

Dont worry, 3 days after giving birth i had lost all my birth weight and was back to normal ( I only gain 7kgs my whole pregnancy) I didnt diet, it was just all the breast feeding i think.

I had my baby almost 8 weeks ago and I'm down 12lbs prepregnancy weight. I thnks it's normal. I'm totally thrilled. Just hope I don't gain it back. So be happy, that's great news. I just have to lose the belly now :)

i dont think it will cause any harm,, like the other ladies said,, much of the weight you lost is baby, placenta etc. I gained a total of 25 pounds during my pregnancy,,, i weighed myself at exactly 2 weeks PP and i had lost 34 pounds! that puts me at a smaller weight when i was prepregnancy. i give the credit to breastfeeding and being too busy to overeat

I've heard a lot of people lose a lot of weight right after birth. You dropped the weight of the baby, plus all its "housing", you're blood volume is supposed to decrease, as well as losing any water weight, and pumping/breast feeding is supposed to really up your metabolism. Since you are not doing anything to make yourself lose the weight, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it continues to bother you definitely bring it up at your next doctors appointment.
