The FDA says it's fine during pregnancy. I'd take their word over the other "lists" you find online.

pretty sure aspartame is one of those listed things to avoid while pregnant, not just a nutritional preferance

The only artificial sweetener to stay away from is saccharin (AKA Sweet'n Low, the pink packets they put with the Splenda and sugar at restaurants). It can actually collect in the fetal tissue, since in travels through the placenta, and your baby cannot process it.

Aspartame is debated, though since I'm allergic to it, I don't mess around the stuff much.

Don't drink it in excess but there is nothing wrong with some diet drinks here and there. My high risk pregnancy team has no concerns about it at all. EVERYTHING can be said to be bad for you health wise, you can't avoid it all and would go crazy trying to!

Sure aspartame and other sweeteners are not the best for you but neither is the 45+ grams of sugar in a regular can of pop. Pretty much all research in regards to healthy/not healthy food choices had just as many studies saying it is fine that say it is not fine. The media and people just take one side and throw it in your face more to scare you.

As with pretty much everything, in moderation and as part of a well balance meal it is fine for you and baby.
