Q: When to start buying baby gear?

I am currently in week 16 and my mom asked me if it is ok with me if she begins to buy things for my baby. It is actually a good question. Is it wise to buy things now or should I wait? When did you started to buy thing, like clothing and bigger things like bed and pram?

I started making my registry almost as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I felt like I was nesting without spending any money right away. I've also changed my mind a dozen times about specific things so now I'm glad I didn't start buying stuff right away. I'd say anytime after the second trimester is safe if everything is going well, especially after you find out the gender!

I'm twelve weeks and while I haven't bought anything, my mother and my MIL have already bought us a crib and a car seat because they found them on sale. It makes me a tiny bit nervous to get stuff so early but I'm having a healthy pregnancy so I think everything will be fine.

I wondered when to start buying things, too. I'd say wait until you find out the gender because shopping for gender related items is SO MUCH FUN! Even little things that you don't think will matter like neutral color cribs and burp cloths and such- well once you find out what you're having even things you didn't think you wanted to buy gender-accordingly- suddenly you will and it will seem more fun and personal. Maybe it's just me but when I go shopping for him now I feel much more connected to what I'm buying because I can picture a little BOY in it. Instead of wondering. I'm 29 weeks now and my baby boy has half of everything he will need from 0-6 months and I started buying around 24 weeks. (Found out gender at 20 weeks).
If you're not planning to find out the gender (which IDK how people can have the will-power to do that lol), then I'd say go shopping whenever you feel comfortable with it. If you want to start now, start now it's your baby! (:

I've been buying baby stuff since I hit the 2nd trimester. Anytime now is good since the risk of miscarriage has gone down. The only thing we haven't started buying yet are the clothes. And crib bedding because we don't know what we're having yet. As soon as we find out we will.
