Q: Did anyones husbands or boyfriends go to the 1st appointment?

Hello ladies!
I was just wondering if your man went with you to your first appointment. I know its like 2 1/2 to 3 hours long. Hope to hear some stories or advice from everyone!

None of the appointments will be that long! My first appointment was about 45 minutes long. My hubby didn't come along because we didn't see any reason for him to really be there. It is nothing exciting. The only thing you may need him there for is for his family's medical history but if you ask him before hand and go to the appointment knowing yourself then that's okay too.

My husband came to the first appointment. He also went to the ultrasound appointments and one other appointment so far so he could hear the baby's heartbeat. If he could have it his way, he'd go to every one. I asked him in the beginning if he wanted to to be involved in every appointment, or just the major ones. He said he'd like to come to them all, but he knows since our schedules conflict it would be hard. I schedule all major appointments for a time that works best for him. During one appointment he was there so he could hear the babys heartbeat. They had a hard time finding it which was SUPER scary for me. Im so glad he was there. If was alone, i probably would have been bawling my eyes out! Everything turned out fine, but its so nice to have someone there to support you. You never know!

....I like the idea of having him with me at the Dr's to see what all I'm going through, and be able to experience the fun stuff too! Like hearing or seeing the baby :)

No, simply because he had to work.
If we catch a termin when he doesn't work, he will surely come.
But, it doesn't matter if he miss all appointments, he can watch US pictures with me :D

My husband insists on me making sure he knows in advanced every appt so hes there. This is our 3rd baby and he has been like that with both our others. At every appt every step of the way. I like he was there to be able to ask the Dr. his questions too and not just mine. =]

My hubby went to the first appointment and plans on going to every appointment there after. He wants to be very involved. It is really nice.

At our first appointment he was disappointed that the doctor didn't include him more :)

My first appointment was also short (at 8 weeks, 6 days). All they did was give me a urine test, calculate my due date based on my last LMP, and schedule the ultrasound for the following week. My OB's office doesn't do the complete work up until 12 weeks. My husband went to that...I would think it would be good for your partner to go so they can answer any questions about the father's family's health history.

My boyfriend insists on coming to every appointment too, although he generall doesn't say much there. I think he wants to be involved and wants to get the information first hand, which is fine by me. In the next few weeks, we have high-risk appointments including ultrasounds and and MRI which will tell us if the baby seems to have abnormalities and my boyfriend will be there for those, but in order for him not to use up all his sick days, I suggested he doesn't come to the regular appointments where all my doctor does is weigh me and check my blood pressure.
So I would say it's really his (and your) decision. He doesn't really NEED to be there, but if he wants to, it's certainly not a bad thing!

My BF went. Lol, I didn't even ask him. He was just like, "when is our appointment?"
