Q: Pregnancy Rhinitis?! How long until it goes away?

I recently found out I was pregnant a week ago and have been having a stuffy nose and sneezing a ton (which I've read is pregnancy rhinitis). We have a humidifier in our room and it is blowing mist right on my head. It seems to help get me through the night - just waking up a couple times to blow my nose or use the bathroom. Has anyone else experience this and will it go away soon? It's been a week already ... any advice is helpful!

Good news - my stuffy nose is gone! I still slepp with a humidifer and slightly upright just in case, but YAY! I am feeling so much better in that department. Now the nausea has set in...

I have a girlfriend who just delivered her son and she STILL has it a little over a week later. I thought I had it, but when I started blowing green stuff (TMI) I asked my OB at my next appointment, and she said it was a sinus infection. I normally get a sinus infection after every cold, but this one came out of nowhere! She gave me a Z-Pak and I was better in a few days. I would check with your normal doctor if you haven't been able to get in to see your OB yet, just to be sure.

Chances are it'll last your whole pregnancy. Benedryl is safe to take once a day to help as well as a saline spray. Mine was so bad that my ear drums were about to burst and I literally just saw the ENT about it two days ago and he said that it is safe.
BTW, I'm 21 weeks.

I am just wondering why it started so early for me. I was barely 4 weeks when it started, now 5 weeks...

I guess I will just have to get a netipot and saline nasal spray! Thank you all :)

I've had this since 15 weeks and am now 23 weeks. It has only gotten worse :/ sorry to tell you. Some say that saline nasal spray helps but it only makes it worse for me. The only thing that somewhat helps is using a netti pot with saline solution in it...and even then there isn't much of a difference. Good luck though, hope you find something that works for you!
