Q: Diaper brands?!?

I am only 4 and 1/2 weeks along, but my dh and I decided to start buying diapers each time we venture out to a walmart, so it will save us a big expense later. I can exchange for sizes or brands later if I need to, but I'd rather spend the money now, before we start needing all of our money for the bigger purchases. So...any advise on the best brands?

It's cloth all the way for me...first of all the expense of disposable diapers, land fill and health of my baby. With my dd I used cloth 100% of the time and would put on a disposable if we were going out for a big day. People argue about laundry costs but I feel it's an excuse because what is 1 more load of laundry cost really?

Thank you everyone :) My husband actually said he might like cloth diapers, but I don't know. I told him he would be on laundry duty if we went that route...then he wasn't so sure, haha!

The two brands I've heard the most are pampers and "up and ups"(from target). I think I will get some of those and the other brands like huggies and parent's choice and see what works the best and then do some exchanging.

I'm so excited!! I think buying the diapers will appease me for a little while until I can start buying some of the bigger stuff.

It depends on your baby really... some moms of boys swear by pampers and some moms of girls (me) swear by huggies. Some go cost effective and get luvs, or store brand... it really just depends... and your baby might have better success with one brand vs another. Or if you or hubby have skin sensitivities you might only be able to use a free and clear diaper like seventh generation. OR maybe consider cloth diapers... there is a WIDE range of different diapers and finding the best one won't be easy until baby gets here. But you can still stock up and just get different brands to see which work better. It will be the same with bottles, pacifiers, sippy cups, etc etc... I'm afraid. You can only GUESS what your little on might like and they might like something you haven't even bought yet! lol. They're good at making us search for THEIR perfect item, what ever that may be. :p Good luck! Becoming a parent is such an adventure!

Have you considered cloth diapering? HUGE savings for your pockets and the environment.

i used parents choice brand with all of mine, and as long as you keep checking every so often, they don't leak. and they're the cheapest at wal-mart. but with my son, we were able to spend more, so we bought the pampers, and loved them! huggies and luvs both seemed to leak a lot for us. buy whatever you want, and if you need to exchange it for a different size and/or brand, you can.

It will depend on your babies sensitivity, if at all they develop one & one that actually keeps them dry and comfortable. We started out buying pampers diapers but my son was developing horrible rashes from them. We switched to huggies and no problems. I find that the huggies natural pampers work amazing too if they do develop a rash. That's my experience.:)

I'm the opposite. Huggies never work out for us....it's always Pampers.

With my daughter, we started with pampers but she seemed to leak almost everynight. We switched to huggies and haven't had a problem. With this new baby I'll use huggies again:)
