I too have the negative blood type too. They gave me the rh shot when I went to the doctor this July when I was having a miscarriage (in case the baby actually stayed). I talked to a friend of mine and she said they give it to you so your body doesnt reject the baby or something along those lines. They give you another shot after the baby is delivered. When they gave me miine, they did it in my arm. It is apparently really improtant so you and your baby dont get sick.

I'm O- and on to my fourth pregnancy (due any day) in Aus we have three shots, one at 28 and 36wks then one after birth. Please do NOT google anything about being Rh- rather talk to your health provider for any information as there are alot of horror stories on the internet that are infact realy rare.

I'm A- (the negative means RH negative, which is what they are concerned with.) I thought they usually did the shots at 28 weeks then after the birth, but maybe it varies doctor to doctor. I also am unsure if your husband is also RH negative, if you need the shot or not, but that's another story. It's just to prevent you from reacting badly to your baby, and future pregnancies in case your baby is positive blood type instead of negative. Seems pretty normal!

I am o- as well, this is my third pregnancy and although I am not looking forward to the shot its not the worst either. I had mine when I did the glucose test in the second trimester if I remember correct. I believe mine was in my arm while pregnant and in my hip after birth. I do not do well with needles.at.all. and I survived.

Yes I am on my third pregnancy and I am A- ..Shot stings a bit and they do it in your hip area or bum dont quite remember. It's just incase your baby isn't - blood like you, your body wont attack the baby thinking its a virus or somthing. Nothing to serious to worry about =)
