Q: Testing in first trimester

Hey

Is anyone else sick and tired of all the tests! I feel like Im some kind of science experiment and Im soo over the testing. I have various medical conditions but I feel like i cant enjoy the pregnancy till the tests are done and come back normal. They are testing me for things I dont even really belive i need like Glucose test at 11 weeks, i have never had diabetes no1 in my family does and I Have no real risk factors. I just wanted to know if anyone else feels distracted and upset by the tests.

I suffer from recurrent m/c and the tests they have me doing is ridiculous. Not just initial tests either i am now 10 weeks and have been doing twice weekly bloods since week 4. My arms look like pin cushions i'm sick of it cant wait to get to 12 weeks and for it to be over.

First prenatal tomorrow and I'm scared and worried. Not sure what to expect at all.

Hey Tangle...sorry I am way late in answering...but I had to do the Glucose test at 10 weeks as well...which I thought was odd...but I passed. Other than that..all I had was the u/s (which I wanted) to verify gestational age, and a pap, which I was due for. Sorry for being so late, and if it wasn't any help. I think your doc probably just wanted to make sure everything was in top condition for you to continue to carry the pregnancy. Hopefully by now, most of the tests are done, and you are feeling a bit more happy and comfortable in your pregnancy.

I just got my first positive test yesterday so I haven't been to the doctor yet, but I am also worried about all the testing. I would encourage you to be bold and stubborn in turning down anything that you don't want done. Find out what they want to do before the appt and do your own research online to decide if you want it done or not. Many doctors these days are overmeddling with pregnancy which is just as much a natural function as your period!
