Thanks everyone for your answers. I've decided I like it better spelt the original way as well after pondering it for a few days. I think hubby just wants a name that's different like our first sons name, although we didn't alter his name spelling either it was just already spelt an interesting way :)

To me, the spelling looks very feminine when you add in the Y. If it's for a boy, I would stick to the traditional spelling... but that's just me.

I like the name as well but the spelling will be annoying for the child. I have a family member named Maison and his name is always spelled wrong. Then again I'm not one for spelling things to different because of people I have known through the years finding it annoying to always have their name spelled wrong mine included.

I love that name...very cute. I like the aternate spelling but think it may look like a girl spelling. Sorry to say. Although, if I already met a boy named Masyn, I don't know that I would think that.

Personally I prefer the original spelling of "Mason". Not sure where you are from, but in the UK this name has been very popular the last few years and is predominantly a boys name. I don't think i have heard it be a girls name?...although there is always those few parents trying to be "quirky"
