First trimester, sleep however is comfy! Second and third, stay off your back and on your left side. Enjoy laying on your back--I miss it!!! Congrats and sleep tight ;)

My doctor i can sleep how ever i want throught the entir pregnancy as well. When i asked about specifically sleeping on the back, she said its prefectly fine, no harm for the baby, the only thing is when you go further in your pregnancy and get heavier, you just might feel dizzy from sleeping on the back..but nothing serioius.

My doctor told me I should sleep whichever way I feel comfortable all throughout Pregnancy,
Because my body will tell me when enough is enough. I'm almost 16 weeks now and have a body pillow so I can sleep on my back for a while, then switch to my stomach, then on my side with the pillow between my legs. Sleep well :)

During the first trimester, not a worry! Sleep on your back now! :) At the end of the 2nd and the full 3rd - you should sleep on the left! :) Congrats!

You are definitely fine in your first trimester to sleep however is comfortable. I found that I needed to start practicing sleeping on my side early on - because I am a stomach sleeper and I knew I needed to get used to sleeping another way.
