Q: Stretch Marks

Hi everyone, I was just wondering who was lucky enough to not get stretch marks and who did get them and when they came about? I'm 38 weeks today and don't have any yet, but I've heard that some people can get them all of a sudden the last two weeks or even right after they deliver their baby! I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me, but wondering if it's happened to any of you?

Thank you all for your responses. My mom didn't get any, so the genes are on my side I think. But I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens! Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't go too far past the due date and maybe I'll be able to avoid them :)

I had them everywhere with my first: Boobs, hips, thighs, stomach, pubic area, butt, and knees. But after 4 years they were hardly noticeable at all. Now I'm 28 weeks pregnant and the ones I had on my stomach are getting dark again. :-(

I didn't get any pregnancy stretch marks until 41wks when I had my daughter. Then I noticed four little one's on my stomach. I have a couple on my hips from my teens. Doesn't bother me as it's so common and they do fade in time.

Unfortunately stretch marks are due to the elasticity of your skin, you can't prevent them, I have 5 children and 3 stretch marks on my appendix scar, preg with my 6 I have no idea if I will get any

i had stretchmarks on my boobs only with my daughter, then on my son i had none until 38 weeks then they appeared all of a sudden it depends on how big your bump gets and how much you skin can take when its stretching x

I didn't get any . They are hereditary. It depends on how elastic your skin is. My I'm had twins at 39 weeks and didn't get any. Lotions and creams help keep the skin hydrated, but they won't preent stretch marks. Fx you don't get any!

Didn't have any at 40 weeks. I was so proud of myself for taking care of my skin and not gaining too much and then week 40 came and went, then week 41 came and went:( I didn't deliver until exactly 42 weeks and by then I had a few. So it CAN be done as long as you aren't too overdue lol.

I didn't seem to have any stretch marks until after I had my DD and my body started to go back down to pre pregnancy size. Then I began to notice them, I now have loads from my chest down to my knees! I was pretty huge though! They don't bother me too much though, we have all earned our stripes from carrying our baby's.. that's the way I look at them :) x

I had none up until 30 weeks, then they started to appear :-) I'm glad I got them, there the only mark my body has to show for having my daughter!
