Q: Can I Color My Hair just Once??

I've read about four pregnancy books and they all pretty much say the same thing; It's not suggested and not enough research has been done.

I've been dying my hair blue black for years and haven't colored it in a year, so as you can imagine I look like crap. And I'm getting married in a month and it's a pretty elaborate event. So, having my hair the way it is now would ruin my entire princess image.

I've been looking up vegetable base coloring but haven't found anything in stores or found my color or close.

Kinda wondering if the hair dresser can just do my root area super quick, wash it out, then do the bulk of the hair. Or, somehow just get most my hair without covering my scalp.

It's my first trimester, but I feel pretty confident that everything will be alright if I do it just this once. But, then again, confidence isn't enough.

There are a lot of things we are not certain of in pregnancy e.g. Medications. The rule is to rather play it safe. The time most people are concerned about is the first trimester when crucial development takes place. However, from personal experience, I dyed my hair throughout my first pregnancy. I have also read about using a well ventilated area for colouring your hair. I always used non-permanent, ammonia-free dye. If at all possible wait till end of 12 weeks or 13 or 14 weeks.

I was told very early in my pregnancy (around 7 weeks) that it's safe to dye your hair in all stages of pregnancy as long as you're in a well ventilated room. I actually just dyed mine on Thursday (it's now Saturday) for the second time this pregnancy (I'm 31 weeks). I have also heard that the pigments change or that the color may not stick as well, but out of both my pregnancies I've never experienced this.

i dyed my hair nothing wrong with my bub. Hard not to worry but i am sure you will be fine, it would hardly go into your system.

I dyed my hair at about 13 weeks when I was pregnant with my daughter. In Canada there is a pregnancy hotline called ' Mother Risk'. It's just people who anwser your pregnancy do's and don'ts and the risks. They told me that dying your hair is fine to do in Early or Late pregnancy. Hope this helps :)

Ask your doctor what he/she thinks based on your risk factors. I dye my hair regularly my doctor told me as long as I am in a well ventilated area it is ok.

i am a hairdresser of 12 years andhave dyed ladies who are early in pregnancy s.however when i got preg on my first i never dyed my hair until i was about 30 weeks.its mad how you react when the shoe is on the other foot.if you are a bit wary i would always say get a couple of highlights in foils or meche as the col wont touch ure scalp.

It's recommended to wait until you're in your 2nd trimester but I'm sure it would be fine. I've died my hair a couple times during my pregnancy and everything has been okay. Just try not to inhale the fumes too much. Tell the hair dresser you are expecting and maybe she will be able to take more precautions.

Its not because it will harm the baby its incase your hair doesnt take to it due to the hormone but even then i think its when your lightening your hair.
you could always use a semi permanent colour if you dont already not as much in them :) and its better for your hair too ;) xx
