Q: What are the basics Items for a newborn (first 1-2 weeks) ?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant, first time mother that's planning on breast feeding & would like to know what the basic items I will need for a new born for the first 1-2 weeks till I do a shop of what I think I need after having baby home for 1-2 weeks ?

I don't want to buy all this stuff that I'm not going to use & I want to know how many/much stuff I'm going to need of all the basics e.g clothes, bottles, nappies & even whether to get a bouncer.

only till I do a shop of what I think I need after having baby home for 1-2 weeks.

Can anyone help that's recently had a baby & knows what they did & didn't use from their buys & gifts? What they found essential in the first 1-2 weeks of having baby home ? :)

My essentials were lots of diapers, wipes extra onesies and mittens and hats (my firstborn was born in the winter the house got cold). If u want get a swing from.a ftiends some babies like some dont. my son loved his swing it was a great soother and his boucer i wpuld put him in when i was doing chores. it became a rocker and the leg pulled out to become stationary at a more parallel angle. he love it too. i also had a a few receiving blankets for his carseat and extra clothes like pants jacket and socks in the diaper bag in case he threw up and needs a change of clothes. ur newborn supplies will vary. everyones new born is diffrent.

I had bought a bouncer/swing for my little one, and now it's just sitting there, I regret buying that, firstly because my baby's head would slouch down and I'm always afraid he might have trouble breathing or something. But now that he's getting some head support, he'll be able to use the bouncer/swing. In my first couple weeks I used, lots of nipple cream, breast pads, lots of bibs/burpclothes, boppy pillow, STOOL SOFTENERS for urself (ur going to be really constipated), don't buy too many newborn clothes since baby's outgrow them in a flash. With my baby I bought lots of 0-3 month clothes, and I started using those in the 2nd week of his life.he's 3 months right now and I have to put 6-9 month clothes on him (he's really tall). swaddles, it will save ur life!If you want to start off with a bassinet that should be better because I started off my baby with a crib and I noticed he would wake up more at night because the crib is more open and he didn't like the open space. contin.

Bassinet, Nappies, Wipes, Wraps, Onsies, nipple cream and breast pads, thats all really. I found a baby bath pretty useless, didnt use it, still havnt used it very much, we just bathed bub in the sink or hubby would take him in the shower with him. Also my baby loved his dummy!

swaddles
onesies
comfy footed jammies
bassinet

you will find that you really don't need too much to start. Something that we ended up purchasing was a Fischer Price cradle swing because it was the only place my son would nap. good luck!

you can never have enough bibs and the cloth flannettes are fantastic..i never really bothered with 2 many newborn outfits as baby grows so quick they dont fit that long.0 to 3 months vest.and loads would them.same with the sllep suits a couple of cardis and light jackets as your baby will be born in summer..a couple of blankets(cause baby will get sick on one as soon as its washed).also i breast fead my kids and would reccomend you get a good barrier cream for your nipples as they do get quiet sore.and invest in a good bra..and get some of them big knickers for yourself..the bridget joan type lol..before you have baby you should do a day of cooking some meals that you can freeze as this will be a god sent for you not to have to worry about cookib for a while..best of luck..
