Q: Is my belly too small to hold a baby that is of a healthy size and weight?

I'm 34 weeks pregnant (almost 35) :D I couldn't be more happy. My doctor says I am a healthy size, and my weight gain (20lbs) is perfect. My only issue is that despite what my doctor says, I am still concerned with the size of my belly. When woman ask me how far along I am. They are ALWAYS shocked when I say 34 weeks. They always say "But you are so tiny!" I look like I am 4-5 months pregnant; tops.

I look at my belly and wonder how on earth a full size healthy baby could possibly fit in there. I am so scared that he will be born underweight. :S Though, the doctor doesn't seem concerned.

Anyone else have a smaller bump? Is this ok? or should I be worried?

Dont worry about it. I was also very small. When the drs did my c-section, the one doctor told the other one, that she couldnt believe he was so big, she was expecting a much smaller baby. lol

I have had two kiddos and people have ALWAYS commented on how small I was. I am petite at 5 foot 4 and my husband is 5 foot 9. I gained 20 lbs with the first and 25 with the second. My first one was 6 lbs 4 oz at 39 weeks and my second was 5 lbs 13 oz at 36 wks (she was early). Both girls are healthy and happy. Everyone looks different pregnant and how they carry a baby! If you OB is not worried then neither should you be!

I am 35 weeks and am the same way. Everyone's jaw drops when I tell them how far along I am because I am tiny for being 35 weeks. I was worried too but my doctor also says it is not a problem and some women just carry smaller. She did an ultrasound 2 weeks ago because I was so worried and baby was measuring right on track for 33 weeks at 4 lbs 9 oz. :) It's hard to believe there is an almost 5 pound baby in this tiny belly! Don't worry hun, everyone carries differently. Trust your doctor!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and every single person has told me that I don't like very big or big enough to be that far along. I think they're just being nice because I've already gained 30 some pounds and I feel like a whale, but I'm short and bottom heavy and my mom got big in her pregnancies, too. Like the other people posted, everyone carries differently. Despite what you think, your doctor is the expert who went to school many years to study this stuff. If she says youre fine and isn't concerned, then I wouldn't worry too much.

I think some people are always quick to tell you what they think in these situations without thinking about it. Whether they have had a baby or not it seems everyone has an opinion, lol! If your doctor is not concerned you shouldn't be. They're the medical professionals after all. If you're quite tall you might have a longer torso than others, please don't worry :) like others have mentioned we're all different!

Well Kate Middleton has a small bump! I know that probably is not super comforting, but I read that her mom had a really small bump too. All women are different, don't worry!
