Q: Should I be showing already?

This is my first pregnancy and I am almost nine weeks along. I swear I already have a little bump! I am tall and have always been naturally thin so this is kinda stressing me out. I haven't gained more that 1-2 lbs but I definitely have a bump. Even my husband noticed it, and he isn't the type to say anything. Isn't it too early for this?!?!

the fetus is under the pubic bone untill around 12 weeks, any "baby bump" before would be bloat -_-

According to my ultrasound tech, I've started showing about 8 half/9 weeks too. I had instructions to have the full bladder for my scan last week, but she said she didn't need i (I raced out to empty it). She placed my hand onto my uterus, just under my belly button. Baby was just to the right of midrift. My doctors are not surprised because I'm so slim. This is my first.

Thanks for your help! We had the first ultrasound today and everything looked great. Of course, it didn't help when the doc weighed me fully clothed... that was definitely not the same number I got this morning when I was naked! I'm going with my scale ;)

I showed at about 8 weeks. I'm short, probably a little stretching of the uterus, a little bloating, a little bit of all the changes.

Its def not baby since you are so early but bloating and constipation could cause it.

Me too! I'm just about 8 weeks and my husband pointed out to me a couple days ago that I am 'definitely' showing. I think its gas and bloating but even in the morning there's still a roundness thats there. I'm 5'4 and petite as well (about 112lbs) with a short torso so I think that helps with the early showing! I can't wait for more symptoms and a bigger belly!!

hunny, I am 5 weeks and I am already in maternity clothes. Everyone carries different. My first was 15 weeks, 2nd 8/9 weeks, this one 4/5 weeks. Its nuts! I wouldn't worry =)

It is not too early. I started showing between 8-9 weeks, thats when I started wearing the belly bands on my pants and it was really obvious when I got to 10-11 weeks. I have short torso, so I just figured there was no place for all the stuff to go but out. Enjoy it. I was so happy when I started to show so early. I had a mc last year and never got to show, so I have loved having big belly so early. Plus at your stage there can be a lot of bloating and other hormonal changes that could contribute.

It all depends on your genetics. Look at how women in your family carried and you'll get a good idea. That's not always true either, but it'll give you a good idea.

You can show earlier or later depending on how you are built, if you are lean of course you will show before a woman who has a thicker layer of belly fat there.

I am right there with you! I am 9 weeks, and this is (so far) my first viable pregnancy. I have always been a runner and in pretty good shape, although I admit I haven't done ANY exercising since finding out I am pregnant this time around. I have gained about 3 lbs, but both my boyfriend and have notice my stomach has been protruding the last several days. (I actually ended up taking a pic and posting it in the baby bump gallery.) I am reading that it could be water retention, bloating, and gas at this point, but it doesn't seem to be fluctuating for me. Everyday I see that same round bump. So, I unfortunately have no answers for you, but just wanted to let you know you are not alone!
