Q: How is this possible

Last week baby measured 37weeks and 3 days... Today she's 36 and 5 days!!! How is this even possible? Dr said its approximate but I didn't think they bring a shorter length?!? I'm panicked :((

Measurements are very subjective. They can change drastically due to the baby's position or just error. Don't worry about it. U/S measurements have been known to be weeks and pounds off!

Thank u steph! I can't stop worrying eventhough everything else was good and on track (38+).. U do make sense with the idea that she probably was curled up ..

My guess is the ultrasound tech just measured her a little differently. The Head and Abdominal circumference are kind of subjective - in that the tech just circles around the head and abdomen by hand. Also the femur measurement could be different depending on the baby's position. She might be a little more curled up today than she was last week. All of the ultrasound measurements are ballpark figures - they can be off by a pound either way - so I am guessing its not as big of an anomaly as it seems like. I can totally understand why you would be worried though!

If the sonographer was different or the baby was in a different position they may have measured slightly differently. I would assume in reality your baby has stayed about the same size in the last week. If your doctor wasn't concerned I think it's ok. Congrats!

Don't panic! Her position may have caused a small measurement. Did they do it by ultrasound or some other method?
