pack and play are great! I have used them for both my girls. I kept mine up in the living room so that i was able to clean and still let the baby play(also..when baby was done playing with her toys I would use it to put them all in one spot and kinda out of site)...When they were first born..it was placed right next to my bed for the first 3mths..Anywho,It works great because you can get one that has a changing table attached(that can also come off) along with an added shelf for diapers wipes and burpies. It makes it convenient for middle of the night changes and feedings....Also..they are so very good for travel. Even past 1yr...you could go a little further depending on your little angel..(if they have gotten to the point of being able to climb out) ..Its the best portable bed for the little ones.

pac n plays are great till about a year old. My daughter got to long for one by then... so depending how long you have to use something like that a pack n play is a good option. Also, you could get what is called a 'mini crib'. It looks like a traditional wooden crib but it slightly smaller for cramped spaces etc. :) If you google it you'll get lots of different options!

i'm not sure about a convertible bassinette to crib option...but I've been advised when purchasing new items that most people believe that the pack n' play with newborn sleeper is the best option for the beginning, then a few months later switch to a crib. The bassinette can then go into a living room or something for play time, or can be collapsed for use when only traveling.
