I went full on girly with my first baby so if this one is a boy, either he'll be sitting in pink flowers or we'll have to get new. But I don't regret it a bit! :)
I second skipping the wipes warmers, bottle warmers, bottle sterilizers - all unnecessary! If you use disposables, definitely get a diaper genie or something similar to save your nose - but cheap diapers can work great. We use Luvs with the subscription plan through Amazon.
You don't need a separate changing table, you can get a changing pad that screws into the top of a dresser. Ask all of your friends to try out their different baby carriers, slings, wraps, etc., before buying one for yourself -- you never know what is going to work best for you and your baby.
If you're going to bottle feed (I breastfed, but pumped during work so my daughter could have bottles of breastmilk at daycare), ask your friends if they have different bottles you can try before you spend $$ on any particular brand.

I agree with the gender neutral stuff. We got all girl stuff when we had our daughter and now, we are expecting our second baby, with most of our stuff going to friends that didn't have the money or means to get things for themselves. When we started buying stuff, it was all gender neutral, so it would work either way. We also used Target diapers, as they were the best on leaks for our daughter. I don't know how they do with boys, though. We also used cloth diapers instead of burp cloths. They are much more absorbent and cover a bigger area. Plus, after you no longer need them for baby, they are amazing dust cloths!

Gender neutral is the way to go. We got my sons swing in neutral colors so we can reuse it with the next one. Also, you don't need a bottle warmer, wipe warmer or anything like that. It actually takes more time than its worth and its expensive. I found that you don't need the name brand diapers either. I found an amazing deal on diapers at babies r us and those diapers work great and are half the price of Huggies or pampers.

Hey! With baby gear I strongly suggest buying gender neutral. That way you can use it for future children. My SIL had a girl and then a boy. But since she only got gender neutral gear she was set for baby #2!
