Q: Lower back pain on one side during early pregnancy...

Of course I have been reading up online and driving myself a little paranoid now, but how could I not? I have a dull ache on the left side of my lower back that started this morning and won't go away. I am afraid that this may be a sign on an ectopic pregnancy. I know the best way to relieve my worries is to get an ultrasound, but my appt. isn't for two weeks. Should I wait it out? I am 7w2d. Has anyone else had this pain?

Thank you so much for the info and advice. You have totally relieved my concerns. I will try the ice to see if that helps.

Sounds like you're just having some ligament pain in your sacral joint. I've gotten the same thing with every pregnancy, really bad with this one! Those hormones that relax all your ligaments and joints in preparation for birth, start early! It can allow joints to shift around in a way they aren't used to, causing some pain. Try putting some ice on the area, about 15 minutes every few hours. That works wonders for me! I started going back to my chiropractor for my back pain this time and it's helped alot! Ectopic pain usually presents as an ache or sharp pain in the lower front of your abdomen, on one side of your uterus or the other, around the ovary area. It will usually hurt more if you put pressure on it too. It will also usually get worse, fast! If you're not experiencing any of that, then its probably just your ligaments in your back. Try the ice. Good luck!
