I started buying clothes when I found out the gender with my daughter. But I didn't go overboard because I knew I was going to have a baby shower and that people would probably buy clothes (which they did but it wasn't a ton) But I also got packages, or nana bought some... and a friend gave me some hand me downs, so I was set with clothes. We bought all the big stuff gradually...and my in-laws bought the crib, mattress, and rocking chair. But I think we had everything set up by about 30 weeks or 35 weeks.

Thank you ladies for the input! I was in Marshall's the other day and bought her a couple of things but was not sure just how far I should go. I think I will get a head start now because if I wait it will be too much to think about all at once.

We bought our first outfit when we found out the gender. We have been inheriting furniture, clothing, supplies since the 2nd trimester started.

I bought 1 outfit as soon as I found out.. I just couldn't help myself! I am now almost 15 weeks along and have bought some supplies. - As the other ladies suggest - I think it makes things much easier to spread out the spending - especially if you need to save up for the larger (more expensive) things. (which I still have to buy!)

I think besides the baby's growth.. the process takes 9 months for financial reasons as well! :)
Good luck and congrats!

I started to collect items such as diapers, breast pads and breast milk storage at 16 weeks. It does help on spending rather than bundling up all at once.

It's a personal choice, but I've already bought some stuff and I'm only 12 weeks. I find it easier to spread out the spending.
