Thankyou :) I'm so excited. Is a baby shower just an American thing or do we have them in the UK? I'm sure family will be purchasing too.
Can you have a radio in the room? I'm wanting a water birth and a private room.
I've heard some horror stories about the postnatal ward at our hospital so i'd rather pay to be comfortable.
Thanks for the info x

Our birth center has us bring pillows and pajamas, too. You will get a list from them. There is lots of literature out on the internet. Here is a sample registry from a really, really funny blog. Obviously you don't have to follow the brands but the items themselves are useful. Remember that you may get a lot of stuff at your shower-including clothes-so you will want to save most of the shopping until after that so you know what you still need. We have only purchased baby furniture so we can do the nursery and a few outfits we had to have as well as some clothes from consignment stores in sizes 6-12 mo if it was a good deal (for example we are having a Jan baby and swimsuits were super cheap at the consignment store as it's end of summer so we got a 6-12 mo suit for next summer for like $4). http://babyli.st/pregnant-chickens-kick-ass-registry

Hi there! Here is a pretty good list of what you will need for the first six weeks.

As far as for the birth, I took my camera and phone, along with chargers, music of some sort (depends on your personal preference), a book, an outfit for the pictures at the hospital, a going home outfit for both myself and the baby, and the car seat!!! I am sure there was more stuff, but I can't really remember it. The hospital did give us diapers and I got a diaper bag from Similac or Enfamil. I don't remember which exactly as it was over 6 years ago. It can be a little overwhelming, but it is worth it. :)
