Q: HORRIBLE NAUSEA!

This is my first pregnancy. I am 6w 5 days. I have been horribly nauseated for over a week now. Barely interested in food. I have tried everything. Any recommendations? or things to stay away from that are not safe to try? I need to be functional and I can barely focus with how bad my nausea is.

THANK YOU!!

You already got a ton of great advice from the women below, but I thought I would add my 2 cents. Ginger candies have helped me a lot, but Preggie pops haven't done anything for me. The Sea Bands were a great help for me (until I lost them), so I would recommend those as well. Also, lots of small meals. Try chicken broth if you can't bare to eat anything. Also, I relied on applesauce and popsicles in the early stages of the nausea. I'm 16 weeks and still feeling it though, so I hope yours goes away quicker than mine. GL.

Don't be surprised though if puking doesn't work. I thought the same thing. I would puke and have a 5 minute reprieve before the cycle started over again. It depends on the severity of the morning sickness. If it's hyperemesis gravidarum (which is what I had), it isn't going to help. GL to you and if you see you're losing a lot of weight, not able to hold down fluids (I couldn't and was so dehydrated at 10 weeks I was no longer peeing) talk to your dr.

Instead of fighting the neasea its sometimes better to just puke. I learned that the hard way but did I feel sooo much better after? Oh yes! I could finally eat something after that

Also, don't drink fluids when you eat but rather between eating and yogurt can also help and is easy to digest (avoid sugary brands).

Before you even get out of bed have crackers nearby you can eat (saltines or oyster crackers which are less messy). Stick to eating frequent, small amounts of easily digestible food (plain chicken, eggs, lean fish, tuna, white bread, soup, juices, most fruits). I like these candies called gin-gins I got from Amazon. I didn't have morning sickness (I did all these things pro-actively so I'll never know if I got lucky or if they worked) but a few things triggered really bad nausea (getting stuck in a metro car with no AC when it was 105 outside) and the gin-gins saved me. Also, be sure you are getting 2-3 L of water every single day.

Defo eat small meals and snack throughout day, I'm 19 weeks this weekend sickness just went away two weeks ago lost over a stone was so scary, then ruptured vessel in stomach and vomiting blood and ended up in hospital. I know how your feeling :( I find if I don't eat every two or so hours I get sick so snacking helps.

I really appreciate your advice! I have a gluten allergy too so I am limited to gluten free crackers and stuff like that. I tried Ginger tea and Ginger root but that doesn't seem to be helping right now. I"ll try peppermint tea. I am desperate.

Eat small meals throughout the day: crackers, pretzels, etc. The key is to not let your stomach get empty. Ginger helps, peppermint tea does as well. Some doctors will recommend B6 supplements so you can ask about that. You can buy Sea Bands from any pharmacy. There are acupuncture wrist bands for motion sickness. If all of these fail, there are a few prescription drugs that are safe that your doc can prescribe. With my first pregnancy, my morning sickness was so severe I lost 30 lbs in the first trimester.
