Q: Is it bad if I cleaned with bleach once, only today throughout my pregnancy???

I came home and my dog peed all over our brand new shag rug which is white/beige. So all I saw was bright yellow spots. I know nothing other than bleach would help. I used gloves and sprayed bleached and then used hot water to wipe. Then a blow dryer to dry it. I had my door wide open, it was cold and 45 degrees outsise, so a lot of air got in. I have not cleaned anything with bleach throughout my pregnancy. I can still smell it. I am sure I am breathing some of it in. Am sure you all know how strong it is. Was this a bad idea. I know it is not the best thing to do but will the baby be ok? I will be 15 weeks in about 3 days. This is my 1st pregnancy and I get nervous about a lot of things like this. Please help.

Thank you

You shouldn't worry, you're baby won't be affected by your use of bleach. If it makes you nervous, though, you can wear a mask whenever you clean. That's what I did throughout most of my pregnancy.

I cleaned quite a bit with bleach when I was pregnant, and my daughter is perfectly fine. Just make sure your windows are open, and maybe mix water in with the bleach so it isnt as strong. As long as there was a nice air flow, everything should be fine. We had just moved into a new place when I was pregnant, and I bleached all the walls and counter tops and appliances.
