Q: Home doppler?

I've never made it this far, so this is my first time trying to use a home doppler. I'm 10w4d today, and having a hard time hearing anything on my doppler. I have the AngelSounds one, so I know it's not great. I also am a little fluffier than most, and have a retroverted uterus. The only heartbeat I seem to find is my own. I did hear something "swimming" earlier in the week, and it only lasted for a second and I haven't been able to find that since. Any tips on how to best use the home doppler? So far, I've tried propping up on a pillow, super quiet room, full and empty bladder, and trying to get as close to my pubic bone as possible - am I just too early? Or will the retroverted uterus create issues?

Thank you ladies!! I have decided to put it away for a while. Had a bleed scare yesterday, so went to the doctor and the heartbeat was still nice and strong at 166bpm (ultrasound - not doppler). So I will try again in a few weeks - as I don't want to keep stressing too much!

I loved my home Doppler gave me the most peace of mind, I heard my first bubs heart beat at around 13-14 weeks and the same with my second pregnancy, I wldnt worry to much if u can't hear it for another few weeks, I never had a problem differentiating the difference between my own hb and that of my baby, I used it the whole pregnancy with my first as she had trisomy 18 and was expected to pass away at anytime, it saved me so much worry and stress, with my second bub I used it till he wld start really kicking which was around 21 weeks and even now I occasionally still use it just because I love hearing his hb. I wld put it as close to my pubic bone as possible and lay on my back( only for a shirt time tho cuz laying on ur back isn't good for bub if you find not being able to hear the hb stresses u out then I wld suggest putting it away for a few weeks, but if ur happy trying occasionally even though u may not hear it for some time then go for it, it effect every mother differently GL

Close to the pubic bone and you have to press hard if you are that early on. I would try again in a couple weeks. You will probably have better luck. I loved having my doppler. It definitely gave me peace of mind.

It may be hard to pick it up at this stage. Most drs don't even try until 12-14 weeks. I would just put it away for a while & avoid the stress.

A home Doppler is pretty stressful, we are not fully qualified to be able to use it. And if you don't hear anything it can cause stress when you shouldn't need to be worrying. The other thing I was told by my midwife is you can not only pick up babies heartbeat but yours or something to do with placenta.

If I was you I would not be causing myself any new worry or stress. You should have an apt coming up pretty soon. Try to relax until you get it and then you can ask midwife about the home Doppler yourself.
