Q: Weight Gain and Weight Loss after birth

This is my first pregnancy so I'm a bit worried about my weight gain, I seen the Dr on Dec 30th and didn't mention anything about my weight. I just want to see if there is anyone in the same boat as me since I've always had weight issues. My height is 5ft 2in and i started off at 140. As of right now I'm 22 weeks and weigh 157. Is 17lbs at this time considered normal or ??

And if anyone was close to what I am, how much did you gain at the end of your pregnancy? And how much did you lose after birth?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this! (:

With my 1st pregnancy I gained 55 pounds! That was a lot. I gain most of it in the last 3 months. I don't want to discourage you but it took me almost 2 years to return to my normal 128lbs. Now I am pregnant again and I promise this time I will not make the same mistake. I will drink lots of water, eat helthy and excersice a lot. It's the only way. People told me that brestfeeding would be helpful but let me tell you it didn't help me at all. I guess each body reacts different. I just recomend to try to gain as less weight as you can (obviously in the helthy zone)

I'm only 31 weeks and am up 34 lbs already. Doc's haven't said anything about it. Pre-pregnancy I was 133 at 5'9. I know it's hard, but try not to worry. I'm a FTM as well and never really understood that every pregnancy is different until now. I youtub'd some post pregnancy vlogs about weight gain/loss. Made me feel a bit better.

I don't remember where I was at 22 weeks but I had 2 kids back to back (13 months apart) and before the first I was 126 at 5'6" and at 9 months prego I was 145lbs, but immediately after birth I was around 138. So Prepreg before my 2nd was 138... then when 9 month with him I hit a high of 184lbs at 9 months!! I felt like a whale! After the birth I was 160lbs, and man did I feel awful, but breastfeeding took the weight off pretty quick and I was down to 140 by the time my second was 5 months old.

Everyone is different, 1st pregnancy I gained 20lbs the entire pregnancy, but the second time around I gained 40! As long as you're doing your best to eat healthy, taking your vitamins, and only adding on 300-500 extra calories a day (compared to prepregnancy) I wouldn't really worry too much about it. I am now almost 6 weeks with my 3rd and I have actually lost 5lbs, and I don't even have morning sickness. The female body is a mystery.
