It was hot last year when my July baby was born, but it was a cooler rainy day the day I actually brought him home. I had him in a light weight long sleeve/pant outfit. Very light weight material to keep him cool but long sleeves because it was cooler than a normal day.

My first is an August baby and she came home in a cute short-sleeved onesie outfit :-)

The rule of thumb is for them to wear one layer warmer than what you would wear. So, if you would wear a tank top & shorts, they could wear short sleeves & pants. My first was born in mid June & came home in a sun dress with a short sleeve onesie (but I live in the southern US & by mid June it is well into the 80s).
