I tested positive also. Nothing different for me except they gave me penicillin during labor. I wound up in C-section and had a healthy baby boy that way. Nothing to worry about :)

I have an 8 year old son and the day I went into labour with him I tested positive for GBS (35 weeks) it can cause (slightly) preterm labour but usually no earlier than about 37 weeks so try not to worry. My boy had to have IV antibiotics as soon as he was born as my labour progressed too quickly for me to recieve the full dose to treat him in the womb. He is now and always has been a very healthy little boy. 2 days ago I tested positive for gbs again with my second baby. I am planning on havng an epidural to try and slow my labour slightly so I have a higher chance of getting the full dose but honestly, I a NOT worried for my baby girls health. They have the result and know that you need treating so you are in a good position. All the best to you and your baby. x

When I got tested for it my Dr. told me that it's something they need to know, but not a big deal once they find out either way. The chances of anyone getting sick once you actually test positive and they give you the antibiotics are so slim now. Try not to worry so much and get some answers from your Dr :)

I tested positive, went to the hospital when labor started and got the antibiotics. No problems! The chances of you or baby being infected is slim (infected is different than colonized...you're just colonized with the bacteria), but it's DEFINITELY better to get the antibiotics IMO.
