Q: Can I take store vitamins?

I am 13 weeks 6 days pregnant and my prenatal vitamins keep me severely constipated. Is there some over the counter vitamins I can take instead?

I also agree that iron is very important, hope no one misunderstood my comment. I just stopped taking my iron supplement EVERY day because it's quite a high dose (even for a pregnant woman), and I already intake a lot of iron in my diet. Probably should add that I studied (and still do when I can) nutrition for quite a while and pay very close attention to what I'm eating. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is quite as obsessive about it as I am lol!

You can also have your of change your prenatal vitamin to something that is easier on your tummy. When I went the first Trimester they ensured me that I could change if I felt the need and gave me what options they recommend. Prior to pregnancy I was taking one a day women prenatal vitamins and they come with a stool softer.

It's the high iron! I was on a supplement doing the same thing. If you buy the gummy prenatals they do not have iron in them =) Hope that helps ya. I have a separate iron supplement that I cannot take daily because then I will not have a bowel movement for a week!
