Q: Painful sex

Im 16 weeks pregnant and the other day my husband and I had sex for the first time in about a week (we usually have sex a few times a week). It was pretty painful on my end, it was almost like I was sore inside. Its very hard to describe exactly how it felt but it really hurt. He is average sized so I don't think that had anything to do with it, maybe because it had been awhile? It was rear entry position and It almost felt like my cervix hurt, I continued to feel pain after too. I know I don't have any STDs and I just got done being treated for a bacterial infection, maybe that has something to do with it? I had a normal pap smear a couple weeks ago.

I think this is totally normal.
This happens to me every time I have sex lately. I think your lady parts just get more sensiitive and for some women it's not in a great way. I've noticed that doggy style is much more painful, so try missionary, or laying on your side- i wouldn't reccomend being on top either- i'm always VERY sore to the point where we have to change postions.
Hope this helps!- Using some Water Based lube might help too!

This happens to me, too, if we go longer than usual (which we have recently since I've been either sick, exhausted or dealing with migraines) So we've only been about once a week recently and there are a few things I've started doing to make sure it's pleasant for both of us. First and foremost, take things slooooowly. Make sure he gives you plenty of time and attention to get you "warmed up" and ready. Use lube, or at least have it on hand in case you decide you need it, and use positions that don't go quite as deep, like with you on top, that way you can control how fast everything goes and make sure it's not painful.

Those are the steps I take when it's been a while, otherwise I know I'll be in a lot of pain later! Good luck!
